What the extension reads
FocusDetour checks the active tab URL to match redirect rules. After you enable YouTube Focus and approve access, it reads and changes only the YouTube page elements needed to hide selected distractions, block Shorts, or lock the current video.
Why Chrome says ‘read and change’
Chrome uses this standard permission wording because YouTube Focus changes what appears on YouTube pages. The permission is limited to YouTube, the work happens locally in Chrome, and FocusDetour does not upload page data or access your YouTube account.
What stays on your device
Redirect rules, YouTube Focus preferences, daily usage time, and redirect counts are stored locally using Chrome extension storage.
What we never do
The extension does not transmit your rules, usage, or browsing activity. It contains no advertising, tracking pixels, remote code, or data-selling services.
Public website analytics
The FocusDetour website uses Vercel Web Analytics for anonymous, aggregate page-view statistics without cookies. This is separate from the extension and never receives extension rules, usage, or browsing activity.
Support form submissions
If you use the website support form, the name, email address, request type, and message you choose to enter are sent to Pageclip so we can receive and respond to your request. Pageclip does not receive your extension rules, usage, browsing history, or YouTube activity.
Your control
You can clear today's usage from the extension settings, revoke YouTube page access from Chrome, or remove all locally stored extension data at any time by uninstalling FocusDetour.
